Lo más normal, servicios en un firewall....

Lo ideal es dejar ese firewall para lo que es , puro filtrado, UN IDS y reglas, ya meter samba y eso no me gusta nada... para eso creo que habia una distribucion SME server creo que se llama , que trae un monton de servicios , incluido server de correo, samba,server de impresion , firewall, y mas cosas. Lo probe un tiempo y trabaja bien, pero no me gusta esas soluciones de firewall + servicios en un mismo server.

Well that´s allways the first question, and in a professional enviroment that´s a no go and i´ll have to say you´re all right on this, but please think of home users, you cannot compare a professional with a home user system.

Best security is cut the wire. And well it´s a linux if you don´t wont a service to run just switch it off.

Just my 2Cents on this, and now complaining this missunderstanding

After a basic installation of the IPFire there are no services like samba or asterisk installed, they are available for installation via the pakfire, so everybody can choose. Please think of the other addons available, that may enhance your firewall with securtiy features like tripwire or guardian.
